Insurance

Insurance & Reimbursement

I am in-network with Lyra Health and Modern Health — if your employer offers either of these mental health benefit programs, check your plan for covered sessions.

Otherwise, I am considered an out-of-network provider, which means your sessions may be partially reimbursable depending on your insurance plan.

To help determine your coverage, here are some useful questions to ask your insurance provider:

  • Does my plan include out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • Do I have a deductible, and if so, how much is it? Have I met it yet?
  • How many sessions per year are covered?
  • What is the allowed amount for an individual/family outpatient psychotherapy session?
  • What is the coinsurance or reimbursement percentage?
  • What is my out-of-pocket maximum for out-of-network care?

If your plan offers reimbursement, I'll provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) for you to submit.

Your Rights

Good Faith Estimate Notice

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

I've never done therapy before. Is it normal to feel nervous?
Absolutely. Many people feel hesitant at first. Reaching out for support takes courage — and it's a sign of strength, not weakness. We can take our time with the work, moving at a pace you feel comfortable with. My highest priority is to create a safe environment for you.
How is talking to you different from talking to a friend or family member?
Friends and family care about you, but therapy offers something different: a confidential, judgment-free space with a trained professional who can help you understand patterns, build coping tools, and move toward change.
Can I just take medication instead?
Medication can be very helpful, but it doesn't teach the skills or insights that therapy can provide. For some people, therapy alone is enough. When medication is needed, research shows that combining it with therapy often works better than either one on its own.
What will sessions be like?
We'll start by talking about what's on your mind. We'll also set goals to identify the targets of our work together. I tailor each session to you, whether we're working through a specific issue or exploring deeper patterns. You set the pace — I'm here to listen, support, and guide.
How long does therapy usually take?
There's no one-size-fits-all answer. Some clients attend for a few sessions to address a specific challenge, while others benefit from longer-term work. We'll check in regularly to make sure therapy continues to meet your goals.
What helps therapy be most effective?
Your engagement matters! Being open and curious, reflecting between sessions, and trying new skills help you get the most out of therapy.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes — all therapy and educational consulting are currently 100% online. Whether you're at home, work, or traveling, as long as you're in California, we can connect virtually.
Can you help with school or learning concerns?
Yes! As both a licensed therapist and educational psychologist, I offer educational assessments, which combine in-person and online sessions, and educational consulting, which is online. I have extensive experience working with ADHD, Autism, learning differences, emotional difficulties, and behavioral difficulties. Whether it's for you or your child, I can help you understand and navigate the educational landscape.
