I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Educational Psychologist. I have had experience working in clinic, private practice and school environments and have extensively worked with ADHD, anxiety, depression and Autism. I have worked in the mental health field for thirteen years and I was a special education teacher prior to that. I also have level 1 training in the Gottman method for couples counseling and really enjoy working with couples.
I have administered countless psych-educational evaluations to assess for learning disabilites, ADHD, Autism, Intellectual Disability and/or emotional difficulties that impact education. I was a School Psychologist for almost ten years and in that time developed extensive expertise in school systems, services and laws.
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology at University of California, Santa Barbara. I received my Master of Science in Counseling and my Pupil Personnel Services-School Psychology credential at California State University Northridge.
My Approach
It is crucial to me to create a safe environment in therapy where my clients feel cared about, heard and supported. This is the foundation of my therapeutic style. In general, I would describe myself as an eclectic therapist. I utilize Cognitive-Behavior Therapy techniques and examine the connection between early experiences and current choices and behaviors. I incorporate client-centered therapy, systems-theory, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, Gestalt therapy, client-centered therapy, CBT and structural therapy. I tailor my approach to each individual client and welcome your feedback as to what works best for you.
